Show Us Your Mask

    Dear MFTA Recipients,

I hope this finds you all well and safe in these strange times. Many of you may already know me from the warehouse, and now I’m excited to introduce myself as the Interim Executive Director of Materials for the Arts. I still work closely with Harriet Taub, who now manages Friends of Materials for the Arts. Together, we have a shared vision of how we can continue to serve the NYC community in the new post-COVID world that awaits us.

Usually, October is a month of celebration for us at MFTA. With our annual fundraiser Masked Marvelous, we celebrate the vibrant arts & cultural and educational communities that we have the privilege of serving year-round. We also raise funds for the MFTA Education Center, gallery and Artist-In-Residence program, volunteer program, and to enhance warehouse operations.

This year will be different. We have postponed Masked Marvelous, hopefully, until the Spring of 2021. Like many of you, we are adjusting to the new landscape, but want to make time to celebrate and acknowledge all of you.
    We need your help!

Here’s how you can participate. Help us to acknowledge “A Year without Masked Marvelous” by sending us a photo of your best mask. Whether it’s your masquerade mask or PPE, we want to see them all. We will post them on our social media platforms.

Submit your photos to us by emailing us at media@mfta.nyc.gov with subject line Show Us Your Mask, and include your name and organization. Also, feel free to post on your own social media under the hashtags #ShowUsYourMask #MFTA #MaskedMarvelous. Thank you. We can’t wait to see you in the warehouse soon.

    Best,
    Tara Sansone
    Interim Executive Director
    Materials for the Arts
