April Third Thursday: Indigo Dyeing Workshop Led by MFTA Master Teaching Artist Featuring a Chat with Anna Sacks

April 18 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free
A graphic featuring two pictures spliced together. The top half of the graphic is a woman smiling at the camera hanging recently dyed garments onto a clohes line in a classroom. The bottom half of the graphic features a woman wearing glasses smiling at the camera. The text on the screen reads "Earth Day Third Thursday Indigo Dyeing Workshop & Chat with Anna Sacks."

April’s Third Thursday attendees are invited to join MFTA for an evening of indigo dyeing led by MFTA Master Teaching Artist Joy Suarez where something old can be turned into something blue! Attendees interested in participating are encouraged to bring a piece of clothing they’d like to dye.

The evening will also feature a presentation by Anna Sacks the Trash Walker, where she’ll talk about waste legislation, fashion, and all things sustainability. Anna Sacks is a waste expert focused on passing waste legislation in NYC and raising consciousness on social media as @thetrashwalker, where she has over half a million followers. She is the Legislative Chair for the Manhattan Solid Waste Advisory Board and co-founder of NYC’s #SaveOurCompost coalition, which has successfully advocated for increased access to and funding for composting. Anna’s TikTok videos exposing corporate waste have forced major corporations–including Coach and Starbucks–to change their unsustainable policies.
