Professional Development – Paper Pulp to Fiction

Paper Pulp to Fiction (Spring 2019)
Dates:
2/9, 2/16, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 3/23 (6 Saturdays)
Time: 9:30am – 5:00pm
Location: MFTA Warehouse in LIC
Course Price: $240

This studio class will take a single product, paper, and work out the historical, economic, scientific, social and mathematical properties that are inherent in its use and production; all through hands-on art making. Each session will focus on methods for art-curriculum integration including: math, science, social studies and literacy in order to empower teachers with tools to create that make them better educators and leaders. There will be six themes of hands-on practice: paper making, pen and ink, block prints, stenciling, silkscreen and collage.

Hosted by Master Teaching Artist Joy Suarez, you will leave with innovative ideas and the materials necessary to recreate similar lessons in your classroom. Participants will learn more about getting free supplies from MFTA and gain the creative methods needed to make their classes more interactive, engaging, and hands-on for their students.

Registration begins Monday, January 14.
