On View at the MFTA Gallery: The Artists of Materials for the Arts

July 18, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - September 6, 2019 @ 3:00 pm

Neon-colored Post-it notes are arranged in a grid, forming pixelated-looking patterns in pinks, purples, yellows, turquoises, black and white.

The Artists of Materials for the Arts showcases the creations of teaching artists and staff of MFTA. It is a collection of works made by those who teach, support, and practice creative reuse every day.

MFTA’s teaching artists educate students, teachers, and the public in various forms of sustainable artmaking through workshops, field trips, and residencies. Our staff works to ensure the thousands of recipient organizations of MFTA have access to free materials; a vital resource to NYC’s artistic and educational communities.

MFTA inspires people to discover the creative potential in commonly found objects and materials; “The Artists of Materials for the Arts” is our way of showing our community we practice what we preach. Participating artists include Julia Clauss, Edyta Halon, Virginia Hoffman, Annalisa Iadicicco, Pamela Isaac, John Cloud Kaiser, Skip LaPlante, David Marini, Louie Miranda, Omar Olivera, Avani Patel, Joy Suarez, Harriet Taub, Jairo Toro, and Roberto Visani.
