Course Description: In this hands-on studio course, you will learn to make puppets, props, miniature sets — and more — using new techniques in creative reuse. This workshop will build your confidence with upcycled materials, and develop your knowledge of MFTA as a resource for your classroom. The course is designed for teachers who are interested in offering their students a deeper investigation of engineering and design through project-based learning. Participants will be introduced to a series of art lessons that they then are given time to modify/expand upon.
*Note: We are excited to announce that we have scholarship funding to waive the MFTA fee for 10 participants. To be eligible, you must be a NYC Public Schools teacher at a Title 1 school, or high ENI school. This opportunity is first-come, first-served. [Update: We are currently at our limit for scholarship spots. You can put your name on the waitlist using this form.]
Registration Instructions: If you are taking this course for P-Credits/+30 Credits, you will need to register on both the MFTA and the ASPDP website.
