August Third Thursday: Black Dye Event Led by Victor Pearlman

RSVP
Join us on Thursday, August 21, from 6:30 — 8:30pm at the Materials for the Arts warehouse for a Black Dye Event led by MFTA Designer-in-Residence Victor Pearlman! Attendees are welcome to bring a lightweight garment they’d like to dye that evening (think t-shirts, linens, cotton blends). Though the dyeing process will be completed at the warehouse, attendees are encouraged to wash and heat treat (dry or iron) their garments once they leave. In accordance with the theme of the evening’s activities, all who attend are encouraged to wear all-black attire.
The evening’s itinerary is as follows:
6:00–7:00 PM: drop off your garment and soak it in hot water to open up the fibers. Tag it (like dry cleaning) so we can track it.
7:00–7:40 PM: your piece goes into the black dye — masking stains, transforming color, and making it wearable again.
7:40–8:00 PM – clothing will be hung to begin the drying process. If it’s still damp, garments will be bagged up or left to finish drying.
RSVP now, you won’t want to miss it!
