Course Title: Animation: Storytelling for a Culturally Responsive Classroom

Saturdays, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Credits: 3 P-Credit/45 CTLE hours*
Fee: $240 (MFTA*)+ $125 (ASPDP)
Course Description: In this studio class, participants will learn to make animation by combining reusable materials and technology. Explore new techniques in creative reuse, constructing characters and backdrops from upcycled supplies, as well as the fundamentals of stop-motion animation. These projects can be used in your classroom to build on students’ familiarity with technology and incorporate storytelling to highlight self-expression and cultural experience.
*Note: We are excited to announce that we have scholarship funding to waive the MFTA fee for 10 participants. To be eligible, you must be a NYC Public Schools teacher at a Title 1 school, or high ENI school. This opportunity is first-come, first-served. Submit your scholarship request here.
Registration Instructions: If you are taking this course for P-Credits/+30 Credits, you will need to register on both the MFTA and the ASPDP website. Once you register on MFTA, you will receive instructions for registering on ASPDP.
