Fashion Show: “AIRPLANE” by Victor Pearlman

RSVP
Inspired by a lifelong fascination with flight, Pearlman’s collection “AIRPLANE” explores the in-between moments of air travel. The waiting, the movement, the routines, and the quiet choreography that occurs as people and objects move through space.
During his residency, Pearlman worked with antique sewing techniques and natural dye processes while studying the shared histories of aviation, tailoring, and fashion innovation. The collection responds to how garments, like aircrafts, are designed around movement, safety, efficiency, and use over time.
Drawing from airline materials and the legacy of uniform design, Pearlman focuses on reuse, durability, and process-driven construction. The collection includes reclaimed aircraft seat fabrics donated by Southwest Airlines as part of its Repurpose with Purpose program.
The result — clothing that balances function and wit, with thoughtful adaptations that reflect both fashion technology and aerospace engineering.
