Third Thursdays: Felting and Fiber Arts Workshop
with Beth Goldowitz and Sasha Ascher of MFTA recipient Town Square
Thursday, July 19, 2012, 6 – 8 pm

Make your own FELT artwork in the MFTA studios! Learn basic felting techniques from NYC artists and textile designers Beth Goldowitz and Sasha Ascher. The artists will demonstrate many forms of art objects that can be created from felt, then participants will make a practical and beautiful felted art object using MFTA materials.

With the artists’ guidance, participants can work together using a large-scale professional felt-making machine to create a collaborative textile art work incorporating fabrics and more unconventional materials from the MFTA warehouse.

ALSO…Tell any teachers you know- “Raw Fibers” our weeklong P-Credit Class for DOE teachers begins at MFTA on July 23! This class showcases the many ways that fiber arts can be used to teach math, science, social studies, and language arts. For more information click here.

This workshop features two artists from MFTA recipient Town Square:
Beth Goldowitz is a sculptor and artisan who creates site-specific installations, jewelry, sculptures, and accessories using textiles.
Sasha Ascher is an accomplished textile artist who works in both fashion and interior design.
